Posts: 189 | You mean 4N71B??
That just tells you that its a JATCO 4SPD.
The series 3 R31 skylines have a RE4RO1A or 'matic D' box and there the big 4 speed boxes,series 1 and 2 have the same as the vl's.
There are 2 types of jatco 4spds;
*ML4(fitted to the RB30e engines)
*MS1(fitted to the RB30et engines)
On the drivers side,the neutral saftey switch has a tag bolted to with a 10mm bolt and a model number on it.
The model number for the turboed box is X8080
The model number for the non turboed box is X8079
If the tag is'nt there,then look at the input shaft and if it has a little rubber O-ring or there's a lock up switch on the front lower passenger side on the bellhousing,then is a standard box coz turboed boxes do not have either of those items.
And the torque converter for the turboed box will have and letters stamped on it that should read NDG.
Hope this helps.
