Posts: 47 | i want to get a lsd for my vl i have another conventional diff for a vl commodore with drum brakes in good nick. can i rebuild it to make it lsd with the centre gears or do i need to get a complete lsd diff. also can i put a lsd diff out of a vn-vp with a 3.08 ratio or will that change something.

Posts: 367 | With your VN-VP LSD,general rule of thumb is if you are putting different centers in,use the original crownwheel and shims off the one that came out of yours,as the crownwheel and pinion are a matching pair.if you dont then you will end up with a lot of noise.
With building LSD,you can make a conventional diff into a LSD but there's alot of fucking around doing it so its just easier to get an LSD to start with.hope this helps.

Posts: 47 | cheers mate thats a big help i think i might just buy a lsd its just i have a working conventional diff in my vl now working fine apart from whirring at high speeds and a diff out of a auto vl working fine i thought maybe it would be easier to biuld a lsd out of that housing but sounds to hard come to think of it and alot of money involved
