Posts: 47 | i have another vl that im stripping and want to take the gearbox out. its a auto gear box and im working with chassis stands and jack. whats the best way to remove it.

Posts: 371 | Mate,be real carefull with those boxes man they are a prick because they are offset.
I rebuilt mine 2 weeks ago n it nearly slipped off our tranny jack when we were pulling it out.
If you can borrow another jack of a mate,it'll be better than just using one and sitting it on the pan,the most weight is at the front.other than that make sure the car is reasonably high off the ground as you'll need a fair bit of room.pulling it out's the easy part,putting it back in especially on the floor is gonna be alot of fun for ya
