Posts: 36 | If u been following the posts i been having trouble running more boost than 8psi on a fairly standard factory vl turbo set up despite running an intercooler and taking it to a workshop dyno with strict orders to run as much boost as possible..
anyway i almost was going to leave it like that as 200whp is pretty acceptable in my books but then i thought about it more and i mean seriously ... 8 psi pfffttt.
anyway i spent a couple of hours staring into my engine bay checking everything out, making minor adjustments, changing filters, checking sensors topping up fluids and retarded the timing a tad in the hopes for more substantial boost... instatly went from 8psi to a much more fun 13psi with not even a hint of knocking!!!! woot mission accomplished... i think the 2 biggest factors in it were the fuel filter (once swapped for a new one the fuel pump actually sounded louder) and retarding the timing.

Posts: | yeah it was actually 8.2 psi measured on the dyno not a guage. only mods r exhaust, filter, cooler adj boost, adj fuel reg and digi fuel adjuster... and pretty average tune. rebuilt auto and 8" wide wheels prob help power delivery too. in a nutshell that's it.everything else is as the factory supplied starting with a car that hadn't been boosted and was regularly maintained was prob my little secret.

Posts: 308 | maybe ask someone about spark plug gaps mate some people say to close them at higher boost to have a stronger spark or coil packs?
your vl sounds like its off guts mate if you know of any slight mods let me know
what size wastegate is it?
