Posts: 36 | I had my jatco rebuild about 6 months ago..... and there really isn't a lot that u can do with them... i just got a 2500stall heavy duty clutch packs and extra friction plates put in along with kevlar bands and a modified valve body.. i have been pretty happy with it... gear changes aren't smooth anymore but they are a lot quicker!
I would recommend a higher stall for you say 3000,3200 if u want quicker times and run a bigger turbo. also a trans cooler is a very good idea.. get the biggest one you can mount under the front bar... and if u wanna be a real smart ass you can mount your own thermo fan to it.. get your everyday pc cooling fan and mount it to your cooler and then to a switch or even have it conncected to a speed sensor so whenever ur not going fast enough for airflow to pass through it the fan comes on.... idle heats up an auto quite a bit so it would be good insuarance with a high horsepower street driven auto...

Posts: 36 | oh yeah and the problem i had with my auto when it gave up was i basically just lost 3rd due to it being a clutch gear or watever.....gears all looked like brand new though... from whhat i've gathered heat causes the friction plates and clutches to wear excessively... so keep the heat down and it should last ages.

Posts: | If your running a vl turbo gearbox which i believe u are it will already have 2 long bendable pipes which normally attach stright to the radiator (cooler is inside)... to modify it so it is far more effective u can bypass this all together if u like (most people do ) and attach propper trans rubber lines of appropriate size from these 2 pipes to the cooler.... mount it under the bar and away u go .... orrrr u could incorporate the 2 by running them in series... that is first the oil goes into the radiator cooler then through your air cooled one and back into the gearbox .... pretty simple really... i hope i'm giving u good advice mate how far into the build are you anyway? or are u just planning at the mo?
