rb20et turbo setup onto a rb30e..

i have a rb20et (single cam turbo) engine and a rb30e (single cam, non turbo) engine..
my plan is to swap the turbo setup from rb20et onto rb30e, as i have been told it bolts straight up..

now, the vl i am driving which is my project currently runs a rb20e (single cam, non turbo) engine, i find it performs reasonably for what it is since iput pod filter on.. so i started to think.. maybe the rb20et would be sufficient to run the vl rather than going through the hassle of getting everything swapped over...

my question is..

is the added performance of the 3 litre block as opposed to the 2 litre block worth the extra wrench time, and added expense of swapping the turbo setup from the 2 litre engine to the 3 litre engine?? keep in mind that the 2 litre engine already has the turbo setup on it and is basically ready to drop in...

any of your thoughts in this matter are greatly appreciated.. churr

Hey barba-b
Been a while since a seen an RB20 in my shop, lol!but realy, not many people bother with'em anymore as the're pretty old n outdated.if i were you i'd do the RB30,its worth the dollars you spend n more power out of them aint that hard to do these days!

Brand new turbo(T04E)and stainless steel turbo manifold
for my RB30 i bought the lot for $620,$320 for the manifold, delivered from SKRacing on Ebay n $300 for the turbo aswell.pretty cheap n it kicks along real good on 16 pound of boost.good buy 4 what they are n will be alot better than what ur going to use.

If that RB30 engine is a bit tired, mine was the same before i built it.this is what i did:

*HIGH VOLUME OIL PUMP($550)EBAY
*NEW CHROMOLY RINGS($120)REPCO
*IF THE BORE IS STILL GOOD,THEN BUBBLE HONE IT
*FORGED H-BEAM RODS($620)EBAY,DELIVERED
*FORGED DISHTOP PISTONS 8.5:1 COMPRESSION RATIO($720)EBAY,DELIVERED
*NEW BEARINGS,ACL BRAND(BIG END & MAINS)$150 FROM REPCO
*GASKET,SEAL&RING KIT
*WELSH PLUGS($34)ANY ENGINE SHOP
*WATER PUMP KIT($90)REPCO
*VL TURBO CAM,(MY GRIND)JUST THE CAM($350)CAMTECH CAMS(GET SPRINGS TO MATCH OR ITS USLESS)
*RECO'D HEAD WITH EXHAUST PORTING($850)DEPENDING
*PLUGS&LEADS($140)
*VLT ECU YOU'LL NEED TO HUNT COZ THERE HARD TO COME BUY
*EXHAUST SYSTEM:3INCH FROM THE CAT BACK($700)DEPENDING
*BOSCH 044 EXTRENAL PUMP,550cc INJECTORS,MALPASSI FPR($850)INJECTOR'S WERE THE MOST EXPENSIVE.THE PUMP WAS $200 & THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR(FPR)WAS $225

Worth doing if you got the dosh to do it,or look on ebay there's heaps of vl turbo stuff for sale, just get the basic parts you need.hope this helps
