Posts: 190 | Auto 4 sure man!im a manual man myself but i build auto's day in day out,quicker shift,better grab,better times n strong!
I made a kill discovery last week about the standard VL turbo and the N/A box(the 4N71B jatco).
the VL turbo has a 4 pinion planetry and the N/A box
has a 3 pinion planetry OK.the VL turbo boxes r becoming pretty scarce these days coz every1 wants the guts out of'em,BUT!!!!the 90 model or so V6 ford courier i assume has a jatco box with V6 bellhousing and when i was stipping it on the bench, hello and behold these ones have a 4 pinion planetry in'em exactly the same as wat the VL turbo auto's have!!!
Now,why pay sum cunt or the wreckers over a grand 2 buy a fucking box thats out off a VL turbo when u can buy the ones out of the the V6 courier at half the price n their exactly the same thing??????And u get a deeper sump on it too!!!
The only difference on this courier box is the bell housing, valve body, the output shaft thickness n length, and quite possibly the O/D casing but i have'nt looked into i further but it would be fuck all difference if there was n if so then use the N/A vl O/D case.ill update this for all the guys soon when i do a bit more RnD with the 2 boxes.cheers

Posts: 190 | Mate,i am a manual man myself but the point is thats no matter what you say, face reality auto's are quicker on a drag strip and some applications to street!
We build them and yeah a litte power loss but who's complaining, you're just splitn hairs really.if you had 450kw at the wheels with an auto would you complain?id hope not coz you still got somthing thats gonna blow the doors off most cars, right?
I have seen stajonovski's thing pull good times mate but i read in a column somewhere its down to personal preferance, and also stated that the auto's are quicker so i dont think magazines feed you bullshit just for the hell of it.
Circuit i definetly agree, manual all the way!thats proven

Posts: 241 | i think stock standard the manual is just less than a second quicker allthough the kick down in the standard auto box is actually quicker than a manual so if your moving and dropping a gear or two then the auto will be faster but like makka says your really splitten f$cken hairs
