Hi all, i'm new here & havnt messed with an RB30 before. I'm building a drift car & putting an RB30 in it but I want to make some serious power.
I have a brand new top mount exhaust manifold, GT42 & Tial 60mm w/g, CP forged pistons & a forward facing plenum with an 80mm t/b. The head is in getting severely ported & O-ringed too.
Most of the write-ups i've read about them say not alot has to be changed to get big power... is this true?
Obviously injectors, ECU & fuel pump are a must but are there any other finnicky bits to change?
Also does anyone know about cam specs for this?
Thanks.

Depends on what sort of power u want, what digits r u chasing?
it sounds like you got all the gear there so ur on the right track, the std rods can take a fair bit of shit but i wouldnt recommend on using them if your lookn at big horsepower.the rods r good for about 300 or so kilowatts
but go to www.spoolimports.com theres a set of rods there for RB30 for $900,they are forged n claim to take
700 horsepower easily.

Its true, not alot has to be changed to get good power out of these engines.but if ur chasing big power then do it properly otherwise you'll be pissed if it handgrenades!

ECU,injectors, fuel pumps yes you hav2 change.
Cams specs for a std vl turbo engine are:

Lobe separation:117
0.05 valve timing
Inlet opens at 30 BTDC,closes 82,duration 292.
Exhaust opens at 84 BBDC,closes 28,duration 292.
Inlet lobe lift at TDC on overlap:0.046
Part no:503650
You need stiffer valve springs, hope this helps n good luck.
