Posts: 4 | Hey all, I'm in the process of fixing my VL exec. Before anything I'm looking at converting it from an auto to a manual. I would've bought a manual to begin with, but they all seem to have to many K's on the dial and too many dents in the body. This one is straight and rust free, with 130,000 on the odometer. It was too good. But now I'm stuck with an auto, desperately wanting to convert to manual. I've heard that conversion kits for these cars are easy to find, I was wondering if
a) anyone knows where to find one
and
b) anyone knows a mechanic who'll do it. my mate refuses to.

Posts: 15 | Where abouts do u live? Like what state are u in? Most ordinary mechanics will do it for you but it tends to be a bit expensive, guess you just have to shop around!

You know a lot about cars for someone who by law shouldn't be driving them 
Yeah i do need to shop around, i just figured id give it a crack here, to see if anyone knew anyone who knew someone who's mate could do it for me.

Posts: 10 | why the manual??? the only reason i can see for a manual gearbox in a N/A is to cut skids. Tis a pretty simple process, if you were a Queensland kid I may have been able to help you out. Otherwise I would suggest finding someone on the CT forums to help out. Most mechanics will charge a crap load for such a simple job.
