ive started doing up an RB30e and i was just wondering if anyone here would be able to give me some guesses of what il get out of it once its finished.. i know everyone says you cant get anything decent out of N/A and i should just go straight for turbo but i dont like the P plate laws and i want to drive it now.. Ive already got the head cleaned up with 40 thou over-sized SS valves, stage 2 cam, apparently the stock valve springs will handle whatever its gonna get thrown at it. Decided to send the head back to get 1mm shaved off it and all ported and polished. Block will get dipped so its nice and clean, bored out to 40thou over-sized and decided on ACL bearings. Still looking for the right setup for pistons and rods but im planning to run something like 11:1 compression ratio and get the rods shot peened. gonna put the O-ring injector & fuel rail conversion on it with turbo injectors. probably going to go twin TB with custom intake manifold. CAI but havnt thought that one thru 100% yet. 3-3.5" exhaust with varex remote operated mufler. NIStune chip in the ECU. i plan to put maybe an MSD ignition setup on it but that can come later. anyone experienced at this stuff, please throw in your 2 cents. tips, tricks or even warnings are greatly appretiated. |

Ok. 40 thou is abit to big and that compression ratio is a bad idea. Block work not worth doing keep it stock bottom end. Cam wise go stage 2 - 3 or a mild cam but it too isnt really worth it. And O ring and fuel rail and vlt conversion WTF there already injected and vlt injectors on a n/a is a waste of time and money and it will chew more fuel with no power gain. Cold air intake is a good mod if you do it right. Twin throttles sounds good but not really worth it either put a xf throttle body on. nistune chip in ecu i wouldnt do either its a n/a just chip it once you get the cam done (cam + chip package) Msd ignition not worth it same goes for coil. Heres a good combo. full exhaust if your p2 Head shaved 20 thou and port and polish job stage 3 cam and chip package or a re-grind advance the timing premium unleaded fuel Cai Xf throttle body (not really worth it though) 3.9 diff gears 5 speed manual Lsd. Thats all you need for a tuff vl on your p's or do cheap mods until you get off your p plates. I had the above and i gave vt ss a good run for there money. |

sounds like ya on the money with all that stuff. more fuel + more air = more power. just have to make sure it is running spot on, no pinging etc... oh and 3-3.5" exhaust is abit of overkill lol and them remote control mufflers are shit!! nice sports exhaust system with good extractors will be fine. |
